Deepa Mathur was born in the city of Udaipur. Having completed her college education from the prestigious institute of Sophia, she moved on to studying fashion designing and computers from NIFT (National Institute of Fashion & Technology) and Arena Multimedia respectively. With an entrepreneurial dream in mind, she established an export house called Saarvantam Exports. The company’s primary business was to manufacture readymade clothes & handlooms, and supply home furnishing.
This company quickly established itself as a front runner in its areas of operation. Working with several artisans and craftsmen from all over Rajasthan bought
Deepa close to the harsh realities of the lives these people led. This experience strongly drove her to establish the NGO QUALIS in the year 2008.
Today she stands proud to have grown QUALIS into an organization that is associated with over 2000 artisans and weavers, who are regularly benefitted by the efforts of QUALIS. The organization has adopted a school for the minority community and helps children to get free education and arrange for them scholarships for a brighter future. Through the school, the organization directly helps around 1400 children in shaping their dreams!
Deepa Mathur has been able to go beyond national boundaries and showcase QUALIS on international platforms. The organization has tied up with several international bodies (University of Texas (USA), American Institute of Indian Studies, HAPSA (USA) etc.) and, thus, has regularly been home to many volunteers and interns from abroad.
She is married to Mr.Rajeev Mathur, a professional, and has a son, Dhananjay, who is working in Abu Dhabi. She is fully dedicated to the operations of the NGO and is well known among the circle of people associated with QUALIS. She is also a member of FICCI-FLO, women’s mentor forum and is in the state working committee of the ‘Mahila Vaishaya Samaj’. Recently, she was awarded the ‘Heart of Gold’ award by Rajasthan Patrika (a leading national daily) & 95 FM Tadka (National Radio Channel) for her contribution to social development.
She is the founder President of FOSWO (Federation Of Social Worker & Organization).
Mrs. Mathur is a proud recipient of Nari Shakti, 2016, a national award given by the President of India (Mr. Pranav Mukharjee).
She has also received Women Empowerment Award from Jyoti Vidyapeeth and 20 others for contribution in the field of Women’s empowerment.
She firmly believes in the words of Mahatma Gandhi, who said “Be the change you want to see in the world”.
